Claudia Humbargar
July 12, 1957 – December 17, 2025
For over two decades, Claudia was part of the fabric of Hampden Heights — a past HHCA president, a familiar face at the pool, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a nurse who spent her life caring for others. In her honor, her family has established a fund to help keep this community open to everyone who calls it home.
“Nothing brought Claudia more joy than quiet summer days spent relaxing at the neighborhood pool.”
Who Claudia Was
Claudia grew up the eldest of five children on a farm in Elma, Iowa, where she developed a lifelong love of gardening, animals, and the outdoors. She trained as a nurse and moved to Denver to pursue her calling at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she cared for young patients for more than twentyfive years. She married her husband, Stan, in 1981, and the two spent 44 years together, raising their children, Cody and Blair, and traveling widely. Claudia was, above all, a devoted grandmother to Hayley, Clark, Leon, and Charlotte, and an active member of her church community, where she mentored others as a Community Bible Study leader. Closer to home, Claudia gave her time to Hampden Heights itself — serving as a past president of the HHCA and remaining, for years after, one of the pool’s biggest and most vocal supporters.

Why This Fund Matters
The pool wasn’t just a place Claudia visited — as HHCA president, she helped keep it open and thriving for the whole neighborhood, and it stayed the place where she found real rest and real belonging, surrounded by neighbors who became friends. Her family created this fund so that no family in Hampden Heights ever has to miss out on that same sense of community simply because of the cost.
The Claudia Humbargar Memorial Financial Aid Fund
In recognition of Claudia’s long connection to Hampden Heights, the HHCA Board has renamed our existing financial assistance fund in her memory. This fund helps neighborhood families facing financial hardship continue to enjoy the pool and everything else that makes this community special.
A bench in her memory
The Humbargar family has also donated a memorial bench with a bronze dedication plaque, to be placed near the baby pool for everyone to enjoy.
Carry Claudia’s generosity forward.
Every gift keeps the pool open to a neighbor who needs it.
